Getting Xed up and pre-gaming for this “9th Grade Party” (Taken with Instagram at Richmond Virginia)
Through a neighbor of a friend of a friend, I quite randomly ended up spending part of last night watching this band play in the basement of a campus house I had never been to, with a party full of kids I had never met. Although I was pretty intoxicated, I remember feeling two things: one was how strange it is to think you know every aspect of a specific culture in your hometown so well, and then realize that there is still so much more to experience. And two, it made me nostalgic for being in my early twenties and carefree, even nostalgic for that shitty house I lived in on Medary, and I wondered how many times random kids walked in and saw a band play in our basement with a dozen people they had never met and had the best time.
